Appearance:
pale, slightly cloudy, and rather unattractive – piss yellow. No head on pour, no lace, nothing.
Nose:
jalapenos and red chilies – roasted with sweetness of broiled char. Each sniff makes the eyes water. Soggy chili soaked saltines.
Palate:
thin and watery. Soggy watery white bread and saltines up front. Pretty much nothing in the middle. Hot spicy rough jalapeno pepper finish. Vinegar quality of banana peppers. Raw. Slow burn develops uncomfortably in chest.
Final Thoughts:
much like blueberries, peppers and jalapenos in beer just doesn’t work. At all. I’ve tasted many to date and I’ll continue to taste more. If I find one that is actually good (Stone Chipotle Smoked Porter comes to mind) than I’ll be sure to say so (I did) and I will continue to taste….and taste I will.
