About the Post

Author Information

We especially love beer, but we also love anything fermented and/or distilled with flavor. One could say that we are flavorholics. We will taste pretty much anything and everything at least once no matter how unique, unusual, or different, and if we like it, we will gladly imbibe of it again. All we ask for is a little TLC, an irreverent disregard for corporate mediocrity, and a passion for all things local and sustainable. Cheers and Beers!

Bock ~ Abita Brewing Company

Appearance:

slow steady stream of bubbles helps keep a creamy white head afloat above orange-copper hues. Swirls with lace while not disturbing the head too much.

Nose:

gentle sweetness of honey rolls, dried apricots, dried peaches. Freshly skinned apples – sweet juicy flesh. Green grapes with skins included. Honeyed rolls encompass everything. Gentle.

Palate:

gentle sweetness permeates, pervades, and soothes all the flavors held within her tender embrace. Honeyed bread infused with green grapes, apricots, and apples. Slight bitter lemon finish. Love the mouthfeel – velvet. Green and yellow pears super ripe, so much so when you bite into it the skin melts and juices trickle down your chin. Whisper of spice in the back.

Final Thoughts:

a fine delicate bock – neither overwhelming but not too subtle either as to not be noticed. Like a gentle symphony that soothes without the snoozing. I like this spring seasonal, a lot, and I look forward to its release next year.
